Svani Group Ltd, a private company that deals in vehicles on Monday, October 19, 2020 donated four (4) vehicles valued at GHC600,000 to the Ministry of the Interior for use by the Ghana Police Service.
The vehicles i.e (2 Renault Duster SUV 4×4 and 2 Geely Saloon cars) are to aid the Ghana Police Service in its 2020 election activities.
Presenting the Vehicles to the Minister for the Interior, the Group Chief Executive of Svani Group Limited, Mr. Thomas Suanikier,said it was to show their appreciation to the Ghana Police Service and for that matter, government for its efforts at maintaining security in the country.
He appealed to other private institutions and philanthropists to support government’s effort at resourcing the security agencies to improve efficiency for the good of all.
Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the Ghana Police Service. Hon. Ambrose Dery commended the company for their support. He said that the President has made unprecedented investment in the security service architecture to make them more responsive. “Yes, I can say the performance of the security service has improved even though I might admit that, there is no perfect security system so there is still room for us to improve on our records” he said.
He indicated security was a shared responsibility and appealed to the general public to volunteer credible and timely information with the security agencies.
The Minister used the occasion to reaffirm Government’s commitment of ensuring a peaceful general election and admonished citizens to join hands with Security Services for peaceful elections
The Honorable Minister for the Interior in turn handed over the vehicles to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh at the ceremony.
