Mr. Ambrose Dery delivering his speech

The Minister for the Interior, Mr. Ambrose Dery on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 embarked on a familiarization tour to the Head Office of the Ghana Prisons Service in Accra.

The visit, which is the first in the series of visits to Agencies under the Ministry by him, was to acquaint himself with the operations of the services. It was also to fraternize with the officers to find out what their challenges and aspirations are and the way forward in solving them.

Accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr. Henry Quartey and the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mrs. Adelaide Anno-Kumi, they were taken round the various departments of the Service by the Acting Director- General of Prisons, Mr. Patrick Darko Missah.

The Minister commended the Services for their invaluable services in helping to maintain the security of people. “The Ghana Prisons Service is a very important and indispensable agency in making good the mandate of the Ministry of the Interior, without the service, we can’t make it” he stressed. He assured them of his support in assisting the service to deliver on their targets and thus urged them to come up with initiatives and suggestions that can make the service better.

Other Agencies to be visited by the Minister this week are the Ghana Immigration Services and the Narcotics Control Board.
