The Chief Director of the Ministry of the Interior, Mrs Adelaide Anno-Kumi, on Monday, May 6, 2019 signed a statutory performance agreement with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service (OHCS) in Accra.

The agreement, is primarily, to charge the Chief Directors to work to improve the quality of service delivered by their respective ministries as well as enhance the delivery of their respective core mandates.

At the brief ceremony, Nana Agyekum Dwamena, Head of the Civil Service, intimated that, President Akufo-Addo’s mandate would not be achieved if there was no functioning civil service, thus underpinning the seriousness with which the Civil Service Council and the OHCS attaches to the performance agreement.

He used the occasion to commend the Ministry of the Interior for working so hard to deliver on its mandate.

According to him, the commendation was based on a research carried out by the office of the Head of Civil Service on the performance of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) in 2018, which saw the Ministry scoring an above average performance compared to the previous year’s which was just an average.

On his part, Mr. Ambrose Dery, Minister for the Interior, was elated at the positive feedback of the research finding in respect of the service delivery and other related matters.

He alluded that, the improvement in the performance and credit attributed to the Chief Director was indirectly a credit and an honour to him as the sector Minister.

He acclaimed the professionalism and the cordial relationship he has particularly with the chief director, as one invaluable asset which has helped tremendously.

Mr. Dery therefore acknowledged the hard work of the Chief Director, and congratulated her on being recognised by the Civil Service for her work.

Going forward, he assured the Office of Head of Civil Service if his cooperation to ensure the key performance indicators as spelt in the agreement are met.

The Performance Agreements between the Chief Directors and the OHCS is part of efforts by the OHCS to reinforce performance management culture within the Civil Service whilst demanding productivity and efficiency in respect of sector targets and goals.

It is also to increase accountability in the delivery of public services; and stimulate healthy competition amongst the chief directors

The agreement is reviewed annually and all chief directors are expected to sign the performance contract in which the targets for their annual assessment have been spelt out which also provides the basis for the assessment of the directors at the end of the year.

Today’s agreement was signed between the Head of the Civil Service, Nana Agyekum Dwamena; the chief director, Mrs. Adelaide Anno-Kumi and the Minister for the Interior, Mr. Ambrose Dery.
