The Minister for the Interior has on the advice of the Northern Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument imposed a 5:00p.m. to 7:00a.m. curfew on Yendi Township and its environs,  effective Friday, 18th January, 2019.

The imposition of the curfew is to forestall any violence as well as ensure the maintenance of law and order in Yendi and its environs.

Government urges the Chiefs, Opinion Leaders, Youth and People of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area.

Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in the Yendi Township and surrounding areas from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapons and any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.
