The Deputy Minister for the Interior, Hon. Henry Quartey, this afternoon launched the ‘Ghana Peace Awards 2017′ with a call on Ghanaians to collectively work towards the elimination of acts that can threaten the peace of the country.

He has also charged Ghanaians to see themselves as one people with a common goal of developing the country for their mutual benefit.

According to the Minister, Ghanaians owe themselves  a duty to ensure that there is peace and security for the socio-economic development of the country and themselves.

‘No persons can  develop our country better than ourselves’ he said.

He reemphasized the Ministry’s commitment to maintaining Internal security to the letter and thus cautioned people to desist from any negative vices and acts that can threaten the peace and security of the country.

Mr. Quartey concluded by appealing to the media to use their mediums to propagate peace.

The Ghana Peace Awards is a private initiative aimed at giving recognition to individuals and entities who amongst others have or are championing peace.

The main event is scheduled for 28th October 2017 at the Banquet Hall of the State House.
