The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak has visited Accra Central following the devastating fire outbreak at the police barracks opposite the Greater Accra Regional Headquarters, to assess the situation and provide needed intervention.

According to the Minister, plans are underway to provide temporary accommodation for all displaced families while reconstruction plans for the barracks are finalized. He added that victims will also receive cash support and clothing, with additional relief items from NADMO.

Hon. Muntaka commended the Inspector General of Police, members of the Police Management Board, and the Ghana National Fire Service for their swift response, and assured that necessary measures would be put in place to prevent similar incidents.

The Minister also visited an officer who was injured and hospitalised at the Police Hospital following the fire to express concern and offer reassurance.

Hon. Muntaka commended the medical team for their prompt care and urged the officer to focus on recovery, assuring him of Government’s support throughout the healing process.
