The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has paid a working visit to Aflao Border Post and Pilar 7 Pedestrian Walkway at Gakli in the Volta Region as part of his ongoing tour of the region.

The visit forms part of the Minister’s efforts to assess security operations at Ghana’s eastern frontier and engage key stakeholders responsible for safeguarding the country’s borders.

At the Aflao Border, Hon. Muntaka met with members of the Border Security Committee, made up of representatives from the various security agencies operating at the border. The committee briefed the Minister on their operational activities, challenges and ongoing measures aimed at strengthening border security, facilitating legitimate cross-border movement and combating transnational crime.

The Minister commended the security personnel for their dedication and professionalism in protecting the nation’s borders and encouraged them to remain vigilant in the discharge of their duties.

Hon. Muntaka also visited the Pilar 7 pedestrian walkway at Gakli where he familiarised himself with operations at the facility and received updates on efforts being undertaken to enhance surveillance and security along the border corridor.

Accompanying the Minister was the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, who stressed the importance of effective collaboration among security agencies in maintaining peace, security and stability within the region.

The working visit forms part of the Interior Minister’s broader engagements with security institutions and stakeholders across the country to strengthen border management and promote national security.
