Ghana’s Special Envoy to the Alliance of Sahel States, Col. Rtd. Larry Gbevlo-Lartey, has urged the country’s security services to intensify intelligence gathering in their operations, citing the changing dynamics of security brought about by technological innovation.
Speaking on the final day, of a two-day workshop organised by the Ministry of the Interior, Col Rtd Gbevlo-Lartey emphasised that Ghana’s unique peace which is built on an open-door policy towards neighbouring countries and Africa as a whole.
Major General Dr. Emmanuel Kotia, a Security Consultant, also highlighted the importance of a tolerant society and national cohesion.
Major General Kotia stressed that stability is crucial for development and urged stakeholders to prioritise the greater good over individual interests. He emphasised the need for proper collaboration with key stakeholders and taking an interest in global issues to maintain peace and avoid conflict.
The Security Consultant also advised Board Chairs and Heads of Agencies to stick to their core responsibilities and work together in the interest of their institutions.
Prof. Raymond Atuguba in his presentation emphasised the Security and laws of Ghana- legal mandates, statutory limits and rights considerations.
Hon. Muntaka in his closing remarks, urged the agencies under the Ministry to think outside the box to enable their various agencies to succeed.
He thanked them for their continuous support and commitment to ensuring that Government’s vision for the Sector becomes a success.
The two-day workshop organised by the Ministry aimed to familiarise the Ministry’s Advisory Board, Board Chairs of Agencies under the Ministry and their deputies with the sector’s operations, programmes, activities and performance.
