Ghana Immigration Service

The Ghana Immigration Service has been established as the Agency under the Ministry of the Interior to advise on and to ensure the effective implementation of all laws and regulations pertaining to immigration and related issues. The Comptroller General of Immigration, being the head of the Service acts as the Chief Advisor to the Service Board and the Minister of the Interior. He/She is also responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Service. The Ghana Immigration Service is mandated to regulate and monitor the entry, residence, employment and exit of all foreigners. Movement of Ghanaians into and out of the country is equally monitored. Ghana National Fire Service

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is one of the Agencies under the Ministry of the Interior. The Service was re-established by an Act of Parliament in 1997, Ghana National Fire Service Act, 1997, Act 537. The objective of the Service is to prevent and manage undesired fire. Under the strategic objectives of the mother ministry, The Ghana National Fire Service is required to provide adequate protection of life and property and sensitize and provide technical assistance and advice to schools, markets, MMDAs, lorry parks and other institutions nationwide on fire safety measures. The major programme and project assigned to the Service is Fire Management, Rescue and Extrication services. Ghana Police Service

  The Ghana Police Service is one of the Public Sector Organisations (PSOs) under the Ministry of the Interior. The Ghana Police Service was created by the colonial administration to produce an enabling environment for commerce through the maintenance of law and order as well as the arrest and prosecution of people who fall foul of the laws. After independence the Service received legal backing through the Police Service Act, 1970 (Act 350). Chapter seven of the 1992 Constitution continued to firm up its existence. Administratively, the Service is regimental, headed by the Inspector-General of Police who reports directly to the Minister of the Interior. He is assisted in the day to day administration of the Service by the Schedule Officers and the Regional Commanders.
