National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons

The National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons is an Agency established by an Act of Parliament; Act 736 of 2007. The Commission exists among other things, to prevent, combat and eradicate the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons; educate and sensitize the public and provide information on the dangers of small arms and light weapons in order to discourage their production. Ghana Police Service

  The Ghana Police Service is one of the Public Sector Organisations (PSOs) under the Ministry of the Interior. The Ghana Police Service was created by the colonial administration to produce an enabling environment for commerce through the maintenance of law and order as well as the arrest and prosecution of people who fall foul of the laws. After independence the Service received legal backing through the Police Service Act, 1970 (Act 350). Chapter seven of the 1992 Constitution continued to firm up its existence. Administratively, the Service is regimental, headed by the Inspector-General of Police who reports directly to the Minister of the Interior. He is assisted in the day to day administration of the Service by the Schedule Officers and the Regional Commanders. Functions The key functions of the Service are: Prevention and detection of crime, Apprehension and prosecution of offenders, Maintenance of law and order, Protection of life and property. The Minister for Interior, Mr. Ambrose Dery (MP) has urged Zimbabwean Business men and women to take advantage of the One District, One Factory Initiative of President Akufo-Addo and come and invest, particularly in the agriculture sector. The Minister made the call when the Zimbabwe High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Mrs. P.T Musaka paid a courtesy call on him at his office on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 According to the Minister, government is committed to ensuring a favourable environment for the private sector to thrive so that jobs can be created for the citizenry.
