The Pan-African Parliament (PAP) Committee on Trade, Customs and Immigration today paid a courtesy visit to Ghana’s Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, at his office in Accra underscoring efforts to advance continental trade and mobility.
The delegation, led by Namibian Member of Parliament Rodney Cloete, is in Accra to evaluate the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Guided Trade Initiative.
The visit also aims to promote protocols for the free movement of people across Africa.
Hon. Muntaka, a former PAP member with over a decade of service, warmly welcomed the group and expressed enthusiasm for the dialogue. “It’s a pleasure to host colleagues committed to Africa’s shared prosperity,” he stated during the meeting.
Key discussions focused on strengthening intra-African trade, fostering peaceful coexistence, and deepening regional integration.
The committee highlighted the AfCFTA’s potential to boost economic growth while addressing barriers to visa-free travel and border efficiencies.
The courtesy call aligns with ongoing PAP advocacy for policies that enhance unity and development across the continent.
