The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, joined His Excellency John Dramani Mahama at the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Headquarters in Burma Camp for the 2025 end-of-year West African Social Activities (WASSA).
At the ceremony, President Mahama inaugurated a major accommodation regeneration project and presented a fleet of vehicles to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), marking a significant step toward improving the welfare of military personnel, modernizing barracks infrastructure, and strengthening operational capacity and mobility for troops.
Addressing the gathering, President Mahama emphasised Government’s commitment to the welfare and readiness of the armed forces. The President noted that the initiative forms part of a broader barracks regeneration strategy that will replace existing low-rise structures with modern high-rise residential buildings, optimising land use within the camp and providing better living conditions for service members and their families.
President Mahama praised the GAF leadership for their dedication and commended the organizers of the WASSA 2025 programme for fostering camaraderie and morale among personnel. The President assured them of Government’s unwavering support and commitment to retooling the GAF.
The event also had in attendance the Finance Minister and Acting Defence Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General William Agyapong, as well as senior officers from the military and other security agencies.
