Speaking at the maiden Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Kaptains of Industry Soirée & Awards Nite (KOISAN) in Accra, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Minister for the Interior, urged alumni to support KNUST so that it can be better than before.
‘We are here today because of KNUST. We are who we are today because of KNUST, and so we should try to give back and support the university to make it better,” he stated.
The Hon. Minister, an alumnus, shared nostalgic memories of his school days and underscored the crucial role of partnerships between universities, alumni, and industry in driving national development. He stated that KNUST’s impact on his life and the lives of many alumni is a testament to the university’s significance, stressing that strong institutions like KNUST are central to nation-building, producing leaders, innovators, and policymakers.
Hon. Muntaka urged alumni to support the university through the newly launched KNUST Alumni Endowment Fund (KAEF), emphasizing that every contribution counts in addressing challenges like student accommodation and research support.
The President of the Alumni Association, Dr. Herman Addae, referencing the theme of the event, ‘Partnership in Progress’, commended the Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, Professor Rita Akosua Dickson as the brain behind the event. The event celebrated alumni achievements and partnerships, highlighting the power of collaboration in driving progress.
