Representing H.E. President John Dramani Mahama at the 2025 World Hausa Day celebration in Accra, the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, emphasized the importance of unity and resilience in Ghana’s development, particularly in the Zongo and Hausa communities, highlighting their significant contributions to the country’s nation-building.

Hon. Muntaka noted that Zongos have transformed from temporary caravan stops into thriving hubs of commerce, culture, and community, fostering economic vitality, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting social cohesion.

He emphasised the need for collective action to address those issues, citing the government’s efforts to strengthen security and provide rehabilitation programmes for those affected by substance abuse.

Hon. Muntaka reaffirmed Government’s commitment to supporting Zongo and Hausa communities through policies that enhance security, combat social challenges, and amplify their contributions to nation-building. He called on parents, Imams, Chiefs, and community leaders to reinforce positive values and promote role models who inspire youth to excel.

He expressed gratitude to the Hausa community for their enduring contributions to Ghana’s growth and development. He urged all Ghanaians to work together towards a safer, more prosperous future, drawing inspiration from the legacy of Zango.
