At the passing out ceremony of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Cadet Intake XXIV at James Town in Accra, the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, commended the Service for saving properties worth over GHS 151 million in the first quarter of 2025, a testament of effectiveness of their efforts.

He highlighted the progress made by the Ghana National Fire Service in reducing fire incidents, with a 1.14 percent drop in the first five months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.

Hon. Muntaka acknowledged that the progress by the Service was as a result of intensified public education, community engagement, and outreach programmes conducted through deliberate campaigns, school programmes, and house-to-house sensitization, the GNFS is building a culture of prevention, not just response.

The Minister reiterated Government’s commitment to providing the Service with the necessary resources and support to enable them to effectively carry out their mandate, which includes saving lives and properties. This, he said, includes investing in modern equipment and technology, as well as providing ongoing training and development opportunities for personnel.

Hon. Muntaka urged the newly commissioned officers to serve with honor, lead with courage, and uphold professionalism and integrity in their duties. He also emphasized the importance of their role in promoting fire safety and responding to emergencies, and called on them to be proactive in their approach to fire safety and emergency response.
