The Fire Ladies Association (FISLA) of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) organized a ceremony to climax the 2023 Mother’s Day on the theme FISLA-Our Role in Gender and Women Empowerment in Accra.

The Chief Director of the Ministry of the Interior, Mrs. Adelaide Anno-Kumi, who was the Guest of Honour, urged women to work extra hard to get the recognition they deserve. She said empowering women in all aspects of national development will go a long way to promote safety and human security.

According to her, the issue about gender parity in the Security Agencies like GNFS always comes into question especially when such an institution is male dominated and used to be the preserve of men. She, therefore, commended the Chief Fire Officer, for appointing qualified and deserving female officers to positions of authority and higher responsibility.

Mrs. Anno-Kumi commended FISLA for organizing the ceremony and said the women of GNFS have distinguished themselves as exceptional mothers and role models who will guide future generations of female fire officers.
