MINISTER BEGINS FAMILIARIZATION TOUR OF AGENCIES UNDER HIS SECTOR

The Minister for the Interior, Mr. Ambrose Dery on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 embarked on a familiarization tour to the Head Office of the Ghana Prisons Service in Accra. The visit, which is the first in the series of visits to Agencies under the Ministry by him, was to acquaint himself with the operations of the services. It was also to fraternize with the officers to find out what their challenges and aspirations are and the way forward in solving them. Accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr. Henry Quartey and the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mrs. Adelaide Anno-Kumi, they were taken round the various departments of the Service by the Acting Director- General of Prisons, Mr. Patrick Darko Missah. The Minister commended the Services for their invaluable services in helping to maintain the security of people. “The Ghana Prisons Service is a very important and indispensable agency in making good the mandate of the Ministry of the Interior, without the service, we can’t make it” he stressed. He assured them of his support in assisting the service to deliver on their targets and thus urged them to come up with initiatives and suggestions that can make the service better. POLICE PROSECUTORS URGED TO UTILIZE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED

The Minister for the Interior has charged Officers of the Ghana Police Service‘s Prosecution Division to bring to bear, the knowledge acquired from a training programme for Police Prosecutors in the execution of their duties. They are also expected to present a positive image of the Ghana Police Service in the communities where they are stationed by securing quality convictions. MINISTER WOOS ZIMBABWEAN INVESTORS

The Minister for Interior, Mr. Ambrose Dery (MP) has urged Zimbabwean Business men and women to take advantage of the One District, One Factory Initiative of President Akufo-Addo and come and invest, particularly in the agriculture sector. The Minister made the call when the Zimbabwe High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Mrs. P.T Musaka paid a courtesy call on him at his office on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 According to the Minister, government is committed to ensuring a favourable environment for the private sector to thrive so that jobs can be created for the citizenry. He stressed that, poverty and unemployment can threaten the security of a country thus the need for Ghana and Zimbabwe to collaborate more especially in the field of agriculture through knowledge sharing for the mutual benefits of both countries. “Zimbabwe’s agriculture expertise is great and we are opened to exchange expertise with Zimbabwe in this area.
