The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has handed over 17 gold bars, valued at $1.7 million, to the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) at the Ministry of the Interior in Accra. The gold bars were seized by officers of the Upper East Command of the Narcotics Control Commission at the Paga Border Post from two Burkinabe nationals who were attempting to smuggle them out of the country. The Ghana Police Service has commenced the training of Community Police Assistants across the various Police Training Schools in the country. This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in May this year between the Ghana Police Service and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), which will train 12,000 youth to support law enforcement efforts in the country. The Ghana Prisons Service has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to recruit 5,000 young people as Prisons Assistants across the country. This initiative, dubbed “Youth in Prisons Service Assistance,” aims to provide a platform for collaboration between the Ghana Prisons Service and YEA to tackle youth unemployment and enhance the capacity of the Ghana Prisons Service.
