The United States of America Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Virginia Palmer paid a courtesy call on the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Ambrose Dery at his office in Accra to introduce herself and discuss matters of bilateral interest between the two countries.
Hon. Ambrose Dery, who warmly welcome Her Excellency Virginia Palmer thanked her for the visit. He noted that the bilateral relationship between Ghana and the United States of America dated back to Ghana’s independence and that there is a need to improve and collaborate further for the benefit of the good people of the two countries.
He noted that Ghana was the first country in the world to accept Peace Corps Volunteers and that this shows the level of relationship between the two countries. He said the two countries will continue to collaborate to increase the effectiveness of American and Ghanaian Government in responding to international threats such as trafficking and terrorism.
The Minister assured the Ambassador of the Ministry’s constant pursuance of the maintenance of peace and security in the country and said his doors are always open for any further discussion that fosters business, trading and security.
Her Excellency Virginia Palmer thanked the Minister for the Interior for the warm reception. She commended Ghana for peace and security and the role Ghana continues to play in ensuring peace and security in the country and the sub-region.
