The 13th Africa Security Symposium (ASEC 2026) has ended in Accra with a strong call for African countries to strengthen security through innovation, inclusion, and practical partnerships across borders and sectors.
Closing the 3-day gathering at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, said the true test of the symposium will be in the actions taken after the event.
ASEC 2026, held under the theme “Strengthening African Security Through Innovation and Inclusion,” brought together 415 delegates from 29 African countries, alongside technology providers and partners from Europe, Asia and the Americas.
‘’Africa’s peace and security challenges require African leadership, but they also require trusted partnerships, practical solutions, and sustained cooperation across borders, sectors and institutions,” Hon. Muntaka stated.
He noted that delegates tackled some of the continent’s most urgent issues including counterterrorism and violent extremism, border security and transnational crime, cyber resilience, climate-driven insecurity, health security, peace operations, and aviation security.
‘Let us leave Accra with renewed commitment. Let us continue to build African security frameworks that are responsive, inclusive, and future-ready. Let us ensure that innovation serves people, that technology strengthens institutions, and that cooperation leads to tangible improvements in peace, stability, and human security,’ he urged.
ASEC 2026 is Africa’s leading defence and security platform for government, industry, and international partners to discuss practical solutions to the continent’s security challenges.
