The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has joined His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama at the 2026 Ghana-European Union Partnership Dialogue currently underway at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra.
The Dialogue aims to take stock of the Ghana-European Union relationship and chart the way forward.
Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak is expected to address the session on “Organised Crime, Illicit Trade and Migration”, highlighting Ghana’s strategies to combat transnational crime and strengthen border security.
In his keynote address, H.E. President Mahama called for an elevation of the Ghana-EU partnership to prioritise mutually beneficial trade and investment rather than aid alone. He noted that the European Union remains one of Ghana’s most important trade and investment partners.
H.E. President Mahama also noted that Ghana will continue to put the necessary measures in place to improve development in the country, and that Ghana is working to become a digital hub in Africa while strengthening democratic governance and respect for the rule of law.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who delivered the opening statement, assured that Ghana and the European Union will continue to strengthen their partnership and achieve even greater progress as the year progresses.
