The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has begun a high-stakes stakeholder tour of the Volta Region, declaring that national peace and security are a collective responsibility that demands constant engagement.
The Minister kicked off his engagements with a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, at the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, stating that lasting development depends on keeping the country safe and that this requires drumming home the message of peace at every level.
He noted that security is built on trust, dialogue, and unity, and that it is important to engage continuously to ensure every community understands that peace is the foundation of progress.
While in the region, the Interior Minister will hold meetings with Christian and Muslim leaders, as well as Zongo Chiefs, to push for social cohesion and address emerging security concerns. He is also scheduled to meet with all agencies under his ministry to assess their operations and strengthen collaboration.
In a move aimed at strengthening ties with traditional authority, Hon. Muntaka will pay a courtesy call on Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State and President of the Asogli Traditional Area.
The tour will take him to Ho Central Prison for direct engagement with inmates, and to the Aflao border where he will inspect operations and boost the morale of officers manning one of Ghana’s busiest frontier posts.
On his part, the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, welcomed the Interior Minister to the region and commended him for his efforts in establishing the National Signal Bureau in Ho. He assured him of collaboration between the Volta Regional Coordinating Council and the Ministry for the Interior.
Since assuming office, Hon. Muntaka has engaged key stakeholders to promote peace, security, and social cohesion across the country.
