The Deputy Minister for the Interior, Hon. Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, has called on the reconstituted Governing Council of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) to work collaboratively to drive excellence in migration management and national security.

Spe Okletey Terlabi highlighted the GIS’s role in national security architecture, particularly in monitoring and regulating the entry and exit of persons, securing borders, and regulating foreign nationals activities. He stressed the need for council members to work together with the GIS leadership to achieve its mandate, emphasizing that collective wisdom will drive meaningful progress and innovation.

Hon. Terlabi expressed confidence that the council’s deliberations would yield positive results, leading to the realisation of GIS objectives, particularly in its expansion drive. He encouraged council members to project a good image of GIS and Ghana as a whole, working collectively and diligently to support the vision of resetting the GIS.

The Council Chair, Rev. Dr. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, thanked members for their commitment to serve and pledged the council’s dedication to excellence in the service to the nation, aligning with government priorities such as the 24-hour economy and Feed Ghana Project.

The Acting Comptroller-General of GIS noted that the retreat would allow the Service to take the members of the Governing Council through its inner workings, helping them understand the challenges faced and strategize to address them.
