At the swearing in of the Governing Board of the Ghana Refugee Board (GRB), the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak emphasised the importance of the Board’s role in promoting the welfare and dignity of refugees in Ghana and called on the Board members to work tirelessly to ensure that refugees receive the protection and support they need.
Hon. Muntaka noted that GRB manages over 20,000 registered refugees from about 40 countries, with the majority being from Burkina Faso. He urged the Board members to work as a united team, guided by the principles of transparency, accountability, professionalism, and patriotism.
The Minister assured the Board of the Ministry’s and Government’s commitment to facilitating their work and wished them well in their assignment. The Board’s inauguration is expected to enhance the management of refugee affairs in Ghana and promote the welfare and dignity of refugees.
The Chairman of the Board, Hon. Joseph Azumah, expressed gratitude to the President for the appointment and pledged the Board’s commitment to working diligently to promote the welfare of refugees in Ghana.
Hon. Joseph Azumah emphasised the Board’s readiness to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure the effective management of refugee affairs and to provide support to refugees in Ghana.
