The Ghana Prisons Service has organised a Farewell Parade and Pulling out Ceremony for the Outgoing Director-General of the Service, Mr Patrick Darko Amissah at the Prisons Service Training School in Accra.
The ceremony brought together the sector Minister, Hon. Ambrose Dery, the acting Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo-Dampare, the Comptroller-General of Ghana Immigration Service, Mr Kwame Asuah Takyi, representatives of other security services, religious leaders, traditional leaders and other officials.
The Interior Minister presented a Plaque of Honour to the Outgoing Director-General. There was also a transfer of Authority to the new acting Director-General of Prisons, Mr Isaac Kofi Agyiri and other presentations.
Mr Patrick Darko Amissah was enlisted into the Service on 30th September 1988 and later commissioned as an Assistant Superintendent of Prisons on 1st April 1989.
He was appointed as the Director-General of Prisons on 27th March 2017 by His Excellency, President Akufo-Addo in accordance with article 207 (3) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.
In his remarks, Mr Amissah thanked the President of the Republic and the sector Minister for their immense support. He also expressed his gratitude to the Officers and other security services for their support as well.
The outgoing Director-General urged the officers of the Prisons Service to maintain a high sense of discipline and standard and extend the same cooperation and support to the incoming Director-General.
