His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, inaugurated the Ghana Police Governing Council at  the Jubilee House in Accra with a call to discharge their duties well for the sustenance of peace and security in Ghana.

He said the peace and security of the country are very paramount and that Government will do more to resource the Ghana Police Service and other security services to enable them to discharge their duties well.

President Akufo-Addo commended the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo-Dampare, for the good work done so far. He urged the Council to help the IGP to build a policing that is and fair for the good of the country.

In his acceptance remarks, the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who is the Chairman of the Council, expressed the Council’s gratitude to the President for their appointments. He assured the President and the good people of Ghana that the Council will work hard to achieve the mandate of the Ghana Police Service.

Other members of the Council are, Hon. Abrose Dery, Minister for the Interior, Dr. George Akuffo-Dampare, IGP, Mr. Godfred Yeboah Dame, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, COP Mr. Joseph Boakye Appiah (Rtd), ACP Faustina Agyeiwaa Kodua Andoh-Kwofie, Kwaku Bram-Larbi, Esq., Mr. Hadih Alhassan Bin Salih, Mrs. Cecilia Eguakun and Insp. Felix Essuman.
