The Interior Minister, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has commissioned a four-storey, 24-unit flat for the Ghana Immigration Service in Savelugu, Northern Region. The facility, built by the State Housing Company, forms part of efforts to improve the living conditions of security personnel in the region.
Speaking at the commissioning, Hon. Muntaka indicated that in 2016, Government acting through the Ghana Immigration Service, entered into an agreement with the State Housing Company to construct the four-storey building, which was primarily aimed at providing housing for junior rank officers at the Tamale International Airport.
Hon. Muntaka added that the project stands as a beacon and testament to Government’s dedication towards improving the living conditions of the Security personnel and their families. According to him, Government believes that when officers are well housed, they are better equipped to perform their duties efficiently and effectively.
The Minister commended the State Housing Company for their work on the project and expressed appreciation to the chiefs and all those who contributed to making the vision a reality. He acknowledged the hard work and sacrifices made by security personnel in maintaining the integrity of the country’s borders and ensuring national security.
The Ag. Comptroller-General of Immigration Service, Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu thanked Government for its efforts to address the accommodation challenges of the service. He applauded the Minister for his continuous support, noting the keen interest Government has shown in improving the operations of the service.
Hon. Muntaka also cut sod at the same location for the construction of another 24-unit flats in Tamale, which will include added facilities for senior officers stationed at the Tamale International Airport.
