The Ministry of the Interior in collaboration with the Ghana Statistical Service and supported by IOM facilitated a coordination meeting for migration data desk officers and the dissemination of the initial results of the 2021 PHC migration thematic report.

The meeting concluded the “Supporting the Government of Ghana in Mainstreaming Migration in the National Census” project funded by the IOM Development Fund, aimed at strengthening the migration data system in Ghana for evidence based policy creation.

In a speech read on behalf of the Hon. Minister for the Interior by the Director of Migration of the Ministry, Mr. Dominic Afriyie Agyemang, reiterated how gathering data forms an essential part of any migration structure. He stressed that the National Migration Policy is a source document of government that indicates how effective management of accurate and reliable migration data is key to national development.

On behalf of the government, the Hon. Minister thanked the International Organization for Migration for supporting government in the area of migration over the years especially the “Supporting the Government of Ghana in Mainstreaming Migration in the National Census” a project funded by the IOM Development Fund, and appealed for more support in future government projects.
