The Hon. Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery has assured the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) of the Government’s support for human rights and refugees management in Ghana.
The Minister also stated that border security is very paramount and that the Government is committed to strengthening border security for the peace and safety of the country.
Hon. Ambrose Dery made these statements when the Deputy Regional Director of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Mr. Xavier Creach paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Accra to discuss refugees and border-related issues in Ghana.
He thanked Mr. Xavier Creach for the visit and said he looks forward to future collaborations between Ghana and UNHCR.
On his part, Mr. Xavier Creach commended the Ministry of the Interior and the Ghana Refugees Board for their continuous collaboration with UNHCR in supporting and managing refugees in Ghana.
