In a step toward enhanced bilateral cooperation, Senior Lebanese Security Officials visited Ghana to discuss joint efforts in addressing transnational crimes, including cyber fraud, drug trafficking, money laundering, and related threats.
The Lebanese delegation was led by H.E. Ali Samih Jaafar, Consul General of Ghana in Lebanon, alongside Brigadier General Morshed El Hajj Sleiman, Deputy Director of State Security in Lebanon. They were accompanied by Colonel Ayman Machmouchi, Head of the Drug Repression Bureau, and Lieutenant Colonel Salah El Hajj, Head of the Office of the Deputy State Security.
The Interior Minister, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, acknowledged the mutual benefits of strong Ghana-Lebanon relations, describing the visit as a pivotal opportunity to deepen ties and ensure the two countries work closely together for shared security. “Collaboration is not just useful, it is essential,” the Minister emphasised. “We will do everything possible to foster cooperation that keeps our nations safe from these emerging threats.”
Hon. Muntaka reiterated Ghana’s strong stance against drug trafficking, noting that numerous measures are already being implemented and that ongoing work aims to bolster defences against narcotics and related financial crimes.
Brigadier General Morshed El Hajj Sleiman reaffirmed Lebanon’s commitment to sustaining and maintaining this partnership. He assured that Ghanaians living in Lebanon remain safe and called for the establishment of a coordinating system between the two countries security apparatus
Officials from both nations expressed optimism that sustained dialogue will lead to more effective responses, protecting citizens and strengthening diplomatic bonds.
