The European Union has called on Ghana to maintain its peace and stability, emphasizing that this would foster more collaboration for development in the country. The appeal was made by the new European Union Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Rune Skinnebach, during a courtesy call on the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak.
According to the Ambassador, Ghana’s peace and stability are crucial for development and the European Union would continue to reinforce its partnership with Ghana to support Ghana’s effort at sustaining and improving its peace and security.
Ambassador Skinnebach expressed his commitment to taking the European Union’s support for Ghana to a higher level, citing the country’s potential for growth and development. “As new Ambassador to Ghana, I will take the European Union to support Ghana to a higher level. Ghana has potential, and the European Union will cultivate that and maintain peace and security in the subregion,” he stated.
The Ambassador also highlighted the European Union’s intention to collaborate with Ghana by creating an enabling environment to maintain stability and create investment opportunities locally.
In response, Hon. Muntaka assured the Ambassador of a good working relationship and support for the interests of both parties. He outlined potential areas of collaboration, including digitization for the Ghana Prisons Service to manage inmates and conflict prevention through the National Peace Council.
The Minister commended the immediate past European Union Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Irchad Razaaly for his good work and thanked the European Union for its continued support. He welcomed Ambassador Skinnebach to Ghana and wished him a successful tenure.
