The Deputy Minister for the Interior, Hon. Naana Eyiah addressed the passing out ceremony of the Ghana Prisons Service Recruit Course 121 which consists of 445 officers at the Prisons Officers Training School in Accra.
Hon. Naana Eyiah urged the officers to abide by the Service rules and regulations and respect the human rights of prisoners and avoid acts that could worsen the situation of the prisoners.
She said the Ghana Prisons Service plays a vital role in the management of internal security of the country and that the Service exists to ensure public safety by holding of inmates devoted to its care safely whilst improving and reforming them to ensure effective reintegration into society upon their discharge.
