The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, received a high-level delegation from Burkina Faso, led by the Minister of Transport and Territorial Administration, Hon. Emile Zerbo, in a warm reception at his office in Accra yesterday.
The Burkinabe delegation, including the country’s Ambassador to Ghana, visited Ghana for engagements with government officials and to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
During their meeting, the two Ministers discussed ways to enhance collaboration, recalling the strong historical ties between Ghana and Burkina Faso.
Hon. Muntaka expressed gratitude for Burkina Faso’s support during Ghana’s times of need, particularly when some Ghanaians fled to Burkina Faso during last year’s Gbinyiri conflict and the recent killings of Ghanaian traders in Burkina Faso.
He assured the delegation of Ghana’s commitment to peace, security, and stability, and welcomed ideas for collaboration.
The Burkinabe Minister emphasised that Ghana and Burkina Faso are “one people, divided by territorial boundaries,” and thanked Ghana for the benefits of the Tema port, which facilitates trade and commerce between the two countries.
