The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has urged Regional and Sector Commanders of the Ghana Immigration Service to strengthen coordination and professionalism to address evolving migration and security threats, stressing that no security institution can effectively function in silos, as strong command synergy is essential for operational success, institutional discipline, accountability, and sustainable growth.

Speaking at the Ghana Immigration Service Regional Commanders’ Conference at the GIS Centre of Excellence at Odorkor, Hon. Muntaka stated that the theme “Strengthening Command Synergy for Sustainable Growth” is timely given the rise in irregular migration, human trafficking, transnational crime, terrorism and cyber-enabled threats.

He commended the Comptroller-General and Management of the GIS for prioritizing Staff Welfare, Logistics Enhancement, and Infrastructure Development, describing them as critical to building a motivated and well-equipped workforce.

The Minister also reaffirmed Government’s commitment to equipping the Ghana Immigration Service with improved operational capabilities and better working conditions, while expressing appreciation to the officers and men of the Service for their unwavering sacrifices in safeguarding Ghana’s borders and contributing to national peace and development.

Hon. Muntaka charged Commanders to lead with integrity, fairness and discipline, and to use the platform to share experiences and develop practical solutions for the Service.

The 3-day conference will feature presentations on Strategic Leadership, Command and Control, Strategic Management and Finance, Disciplinary Procedures under L.I. 2245, and 360-Degree Leadership.
