Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Minister for the Interior, has commended the strong unity between Christians and Muslims in the Volta Region, describing it as a model for national peace and stability.

Addressing Christian and Muslim leaders, as well as Zongo Chiefs in Ho as part of his regional tour to promote peace and security, the Minister said the Volta Region stands out as one of the most peaceful regions in the country.

He noted that lasting peace requires continuous stakeholder engagement and collaboration. “Without peace, there can be no development. Security is built on trust, dialogue, and unity, and it is important that every community understands this”, he stated

Turning to regional security threats, Hon. Muntaka warned that the sub-region remains vulnerable to terrorism. He stressed that preventing attacks would take the will of God and the kind of collaboration we are seeing through these stakeholder engagements.

The Minister also expressed concern about the alarming rate of drug abuse in the region and across the country. He urged religious leaders to use their pulpits to preach against drug abuse and guide the youth toward productive paths.

The engagement in Ho forms part of Hon. Muntaka’s working visit to the Volta Region, aimed at strengthening social cohesion in the region and across the country.
