The Ambassador of Germany to Ghana, Frederik Landshöft, has reaffirmed the security and development partnership with Ghana. He made the remarks during a courtesy call on the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in key areas of security and development.

During the meeting, Ambassador Landshöft expressed appreciation for the strong collaboration between Ghana and Germany, describing the partnership as one of the most effective among Germany’s international engagements.

The Ambassador referenced his recent visit to border areas in Ghana’s Northern Region, underscoring the importance of sustained cooperation in addressing emerging security challenges. He also emphasized ongoing security cooperation, including training and capacity-building support, and sought continued guidance from the Minister to deepen these efforts.

In his remarks, Hon. Muntaka expressed gratitude for Germany’s longstanding support of Ghana’s security architecture and reaffirmed Government’s commitment to strengthening collaboration.

The Minister acknowledged the successful extension of the Coastal States Stability Mechanism, noting its significant contribution to enhancing border security and coordination. He, however, pointed to persistent challenges in Northern Ghana, describing the broader security system as complex and requiring sustained international cooperation.

Hon. Muntaka emphasised the need to strengthen surveillance systems, improve security coordination, and enhance responses to migration-related issues. He also commended Germany’s role in advancing climate and security partnerships and welcomed deeper collaboration in these critical areas.

Reassuring the German delegation of Ghana’s commitment to partnership, the Minister reiterated the Ministry’s open-door policy and expressed optimism about expanding cooperation to further enhance national and regional security.
