The Deputy Minister of the Interior, Hon. Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi has launched a four-day initiative aimed at engaging youth in selected “hotspots” on conflict prevention.
The programme, ‘Dialoguing with the Youth in Selected Hotspots on Conflict Prevention,” brings together young people from Nima and other vulnerable communities to discuss ways to prevent violence and promote peace.
The initiative is a collaboration between the National Peace Council and the Dallaire Institute and supported by the Ministry of the Interior.
The programme aims to create safe spaces for dialogue, learning and action, and will equip youth with tools to identify early warning signs of conflict, resist manipulation and build resilience.
Addressing the launch in Accra, the Deputy Minister of the Interior emphasized the importance of youth involvement in peacebuilding, saying, “You are not here by accident. You are here because you have been chosen not for your status, but for your potential.”
The programme is expected to contribute to Ghana’s efforts to prevent conflict and promote peace and stability.
