The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has underscored the need for honesty and strategic planning as the Ministry of the Interior and its Agencies gather for the 2025 Annual Performance Review Workshop, themed “Strengthening Security Governance, Accountability, and Service Delivery through Performance Review and Strategic Alignment”.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, the Minister stressed that the event is an opportunity to assess performance, identify gaps, and set clear priorities for improved outcomes in 2026 and beyond.

Hon. Muntaka highlighted notable gains in the Sector, including stronger inter-agency collaboration, progress in digitisation, and improvements in emergency response, but also noted persistent challenges such as crime trends, border security pressures, and public scrutiny regarding accountability and human rights.

He urged Heads of Agencies to approach the review with transparency, ownership, and strategic focus, and to use the workshop to strengthen alignment, sharpen coordination, and reaffirm their collective responsibility to deliver security services that inspire public confidence and support national development.

Mrs. Doreen Annan, Chief Director of the Ministry, who gave the welcome address, noted that the workshop was not intended to be a fault-finding exercise but a solution-oriented forum designed to promote learning, strengthen coordination, and enhance institutional effectiveness across the Sector.

The workshop, being held at Aqua Safari Resort, Ada, brings together Deputy Minister, Chief Director, Heads of Agencies, and Senior Officers to review the Ministry’s performance and chart a way forward.
