The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has praised the Upper West Region for its exceptional peace and security, stating that it is one of the country’s most peaceful regions.
He made this remark at a stakeholder engagement with the Wa Christian-Muslim Dialogue Committee in Wa, emphasizing that peace is a collective effort and urging stakeholders, including the Christian Dialogue Committee, National Peace Council, and other stakeholders, to continue fostering peace in the region and the country.
The Minister outlined the Ministry’s plans to enhance public safety, including a Gun Amnesty programme aimed at reducing the proliferation of small arms and light weapons, installing scanners at the airport to improve security screening, and digitalizing the Ministry’s services to improve efficiency and transparency.
Hon. Muntaka also met with the Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Charles Lwanga Puozuing, and security agencies, including the Ghana Police Service, Prisons Service, National Fire Service, and Immigration Service, to discuss regional concerns and ways to strengthen security in the region.
He assured the officers that their concerns, including vehicles, fire tenders, promotions, rent allowances, accommodation, and logistics, would be addressed and urged them to continue to work hard and sacrifice for mother Ghana.
The Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Charles Lwanga Puozuing, thanked Hon. Muntaka for the visit, assuring him of peace and stability in the region. He stated that security is the foundation of development and commended the Minister’s efforts to promote peace and security in the country.

It also highlights the importance of collaboration between government, security agencies, and communities to address security challenges and promote development.
