The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has urged Christian clerics in Tamale to partner with Government to promote peace, security, and social cohesion in not just in their region but the entire country.

Speaking at a meeting with Christian leaders in Tamale, the Minister emphasized the importance of collaboration between Government and religious leaders in addressing the challenges facing the nation.

Hon. Muntaka highlighted the alarming rise of drug abuse, particularly among the youth, and urged the clerics to preach messages of hope, resilience, and responsibility from their pulpits.

He also invited them to partner with the Narcotics Control Commission to establish counseling and rehabilitation programmes for addicts.

Additionally, the Minister appealed to the clerics to continue collaborating with the National Peace Council to mediate conflicts and prevent armed escalation.

The meeting was attended by Local Council of Churches, made up of Catholic Secretariat, Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, National Council of Charismatic and Christian Churches, Christian Council of Ghana, Network of Independent Churches

The meeting forms part of the Minister’s efforts to engage with stakeholders in the Northern Region to promote peace and security.
