On the sidelines of the Ghana-European Union (EU) Business Forum, Deputy Director-General of the International Partnership for the European Commission, Ms. Myriam Ferran paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of the Interior.
Receiving the delegation at the Ministry, Hon. Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, Deputy Minister for the Interior underscored governments commitment to foster ties with the European Union in areas of mutual interest such as security, migration, climate change and agriculture.
Hon. Terlabi who received the delegation on behalf of the Interior Minister, thanked the EU for the support received in recent and past years under various partnership agreements especially in the areas of peace, security and intelligence. Notable and recent amongst them is the ATUU Project, which is part of a longstanding cooperation with the Government of Ghana and will adopt a comprehensive approach to migration, leveraging the potential of migration to contribute to sustainable development, as well as promote nationally – owned migration governance systems.
Ms. Myriam Ferran, Deputy Director-General of the International Partnership for the European Commission in her remarks, stated that she was ready to work with Governments of member states to achieve growth and development agendas.
She added that the EU will continue its partnership with Government and exchange ideas on key issues which touch on security, migration, agriculture, climate change, economic partnership, trade agreements, sustainable development, and other international issues of mutual interest.
The Ghana-EU Business Forum which offers a forum for active participation between European and Ghanaian private sector operators and policymakers The forum which is the 3rd Edition represents a renewed opportunity for the EU, its Member States and private sector from Europe and Ghana to engage on their investment agendas in a transparent and inclusive manner with a view to fostering confidence and commitment to a stronger and sustainable partnership.
The Seven (7) member delegation was the led by the EU Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Irchad Razaaly. Also present at the meeting were officials of the Ministry and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).
