Hon. Muntaka Mohammed – Mubarak, Minister for the Interior, has commissioned a Fire Station at Yesukrom-Fetteh in the Gomoa East District, funded, built, and furnished by the Church of Pentecost.
Delivering his remarks, the Minister praised the Church for its generosity, highlighting the importance of collaboration between faith-based organisations and Government in nation-building. “This bold and generous act speaks volumes about how faith-based organisations can complement government efforts in nation-building, particularly in areas of safety and disaster preparedness”, he stated.
Hon. Muntaka added that the responsibilities of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have evolved from basic fire suppression to encompass technical rescue, road traffic extrications, fire prevention education, hazardous material response, and now climate-induced emergencies, and as such, they require modern infrastructure like the new station to deliver effectively on their mandate. He urged the community to take ownership of the facility, working together to ensure its success.
Acting Chief Fire Officer, Daniella Mawusi Ntow-Sarpong stated that the station will enhance the Service’s ability to respond to emergencies promptly and support operations within Yesukrom–Fetteh, the Pentecost Convention Centre, and surrounding communities.
She appealed to other faith-based organisations, corporate bodies, and individuals to emulate the example of the Church of Pentecost, highlighting the positive impact it can have on public safety and community development.
Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, noted that GNFS has worked tirelessly to serve the nation. He emphasised that the donation of a fire station is a testament to the Church’s commitment to supporting security agencies through its security and safety projects.
He revealed the Church’s quest to transform every sphere of society through partnerships with Government agencies, consistent with its “Possessing the Nations” agenda.
