Heavy and persistent rains in the last two weeks of August and the first week of September this year have caused serious flood¬related disaster in the three Northern Regions and parts of the Western, Eastern and Volta Regions.

Following a report by the Ministerial Team which visited the affected areas to undertake a critical initial assessment, His Excellency, the President constituted an Inter-Ministerial Task Force, consisting of all the key Stakeholder Ministers with the Chief Advisor to the President, Mrs. Mary Chinery-Hesse as the Chairperson, to serve as a Strategic Focal Point to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to the management of the disaster.

Deliberations of the Task Force have led to the establishment of an "Operations Room" with responsibility for collating, disemmination and coordinating all donations, supports and information in relation to the floods.
